This antique pair of gorgeous late 19th century Italian carved wood architectural pedestals or columns features rectangular form and a wonderful faux marble red, black and silvered lacquer finish. Wide squared reinforced top and base sections with raised coffered panels and tapered tops.

Very truthful painted as faux marble with nice silvered accents finished on all four sides.
The central part of the column is red painted as faux Porphyry marble with a geometrical black painted frame on each side, the top is lacquered as black Portoro marble with gorgeous gold-yellow veins while the base and the carved apron under the top are silver lacquered all with a beautiful patina.
These charming large scale plinths, with very useful proportions, are solid, stable and sturdy, perfect for safely supporting even very heavy objects such as sculptures, busts, vases or urns. Each pedestal weighted so not to tip.
Perfect structural condition, wonderful Marbleized paint and original patina with a rich beeswax polish, minor wear and slight scratches on top due to age and use.
One side of the lower part of one of the two columns is more worn than the others, as shown in the photo, we can provide lacquering that part on request.
Measures: Width 51cm, height 97cm, depth 51 cm.
